Alexia’s love of the screen stemmed from watching old MGM films with family as a child. As she got older, she wanted nothing more than to play some part in the creative industry – she eventually spent two years at the Dun Laoghaire Further Education Institute (DFEI), where she completed a Level 5 & 6 in Film & TV Production with Full Distinctions. A true lover of the arts, she has also taken acting classes at the Gaiety School of Acting.
While studying, Alexia was inspired to pursue a career in Film and TV and gained a wealth of experience working as a freelance Runner and Production Assistant with various professional production companies on a diverse range of projects. Alexia joined us in May 2020 and is a fantastic addition to our growing team. Her enthusiasm and attention to detail is vital to how we work. Casting appeals to both her interest and experience in pre-production and she loves the satisfaction of knowing she has helped a project become a reality.
Rachel was introduced to Extras Ireland when she started as an intern in October 2018. With a degree in Film & Television Production freshly under her belt and an enthusiasm to learn more, she thought it was brilliant to see our two companies working side by side under one roof.
As Rachel's internship came to an end we just couldn't bear to let her go, and so we didn't. Rachel now works across both companies full-time, casting talent in a film one day, assisting in booking production staff for RTE the next.
Founder & Head of Finance
Deirdre began her career in Broadcasting in 1988 when she joined RTÉ and she credits the company with the opportunities afforded to her and the variety of work undertaken during her fourteen years there. Initially, Deirdre worked as an Office Messenger in the Post Room and progressed to the Accounts Department and the Music Library. She was appointed as a Broadcasting Assistant on RTÉ Radio 1 and 2FM, where she worked for many years on The Gerry Ryan Show. In 1998, she made the crossover from Radio to TV as a Vision Mixer, working on a wide section of home-produced programmes. Deirdre left RTÉ in 2002 and has continued to work in the freelance independent production and outside broadcast sector.
Not only is Deirdre a creative and technical professional, but she is also a life-long learner who holds a BA (Hons) in Marketing, is AAT (Accounting Technician) qualified, and is a Fellow of the National Recruitment Federation. She is currently studying for an BA in Management
Practice. Deirdre’s expertise in the operations and technical side of TV Production complements the skillset of other staff members to provide a well-rounded knowledge of the broadcasting industry and all the combined elements that unite to make a successful programme. It is this in-depth knowledge of drama, reconstructions and the broadcasting industry in general, in conjunction with the business skills acquired over the last sixteen years that can assure clients that Extras Ireland understands the business and is confident in providing an excellent service.
